Gerardo Andres Moreno Yepez was born in Quito, Ecuador. He studied in the San Gabriel High School, and finished his bachelor’s degree majoring in Industrial Psychology at Pontific Catholic University, and later obtained his MBA at the National Polytechnic University, where he authored his MBA thesis which was the first thesis related to the technical management of crisis typologies in Ecuador. He has been a university professor, consultant, trainer, lead auditor. Mr. Moreno has worked for international certifiers, including SGS Ecuador, COTECNA Swiss Company, AENOR, SGS North America (Canada, USA, Mexico). He is a lead auditor in management systems related to quality, occupational health and safety, environmental management, among others.
Mr. Moreno has dedicated nearly 20 years of his life to the investigation of the technical management of crisis types, an intricate subject and poorly treated academically in Ecuador and in some regions and countries around the world. He had the opportunity to be invited by Ian Mitroff, professor at the University of Southern California in 2004, to learn about the academic and research activities that were carried out at this university in the field of Crisis Management. In 2017, Gerardo Moreno published his book Potenciar: Security, Risk and Crisis Management Model for Continuity, Innovation and Development, with the auspices and support of the Ecuadorian House of Culture, as well as the Potenciar Methodology – AM for a root cause analysis of non-conformities and the Potenciar Standard.
Since February 2018, Mr. Moreno works in North America in the implementation of these management tools of the Potenciar Model.
His dream and objective is to support and contribute to a new understanding of the phenomena called Crisis and
Risks based on technical and scientific management, with the focus that the problem is not in the crisis as an individual component, but in the management in the before and after of the destructive phase, in a continuous cycle in time. Potenciar International LLC raises the need to change the general and ambiguous conception of crisis to an administration by typologies and phases in time; emphasizing that the concepts of prevention and risk are not sufficient, but all phases must be considered in management time; to contribute in the constant improvement the levels of development and well-being of people, organizations, and societies. May 2019, he established the company Potenciar International LLC based in New Jersey – USA and began to work with important organizations, initially in the aerospace industry who saw the importance, results, and effectiveness of the application of the Potenciar Model.
